Perseus II

Monumental Sculpture in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood. I was involved in almost every aspect of the development of this piece.

Perseus II: Drawings

From overall plans and elevations to details, to fabrication drawings and templates. Both 2D and 3D drawings were required to get the project built.

Perseus II: Model

A four-foot tall paper model of the functional sculpture was a final test of the design.

Perseus II: Shirt

I made one final drawing and design a t-shirt for the dedication of the sculpture. I also published a book on the project through CoCA.

Special Olympics Torch

Miguel's commission to build the Torch for the 2018 Special Olympics. I contributed to the design and made numerous drawings and models.

First model made by cutting two pieces of paper, taping them back to back, photographing them on a turntable, and collaging the photos together.

Model made at Miguel's kitchen table. I tied the paper cutouts together with monofilament, stuffed in cloth napkins, and put it on top of a light fixture.

Custom Table

Miguel had the basic concept, which I refined and detailed, including the inverting of the crossing legs and center pivot.

As usual, computer drawings were created to send to the CNC machines that cut all the pieces for the table.

Collaborations with Miguel Edwards

Miguel and I have a long history of working together, and our friendship and spirit of collaboration grew as board members of Seattle's Center on Contemporary Art, where I preceded Miguel as board president.

After working on a few small projects together, these collaborations eventually grew to involve larger projects, including Perseus II and the Cauldron and Flame for the Special Olympics in Seattle.

Our "Frequency Unknown" project with Jonathan Womack is featured elsewhere on the site. We continue to work together on projects both large and small. You are not going to believe what we've got in store for you next!
