He was my best man. He started an addition without a permit. He got red-tagged. He needed my help. I negotiated for a re-design in exchange for getting the permit. He already had the materials on site. He said I had to use them in the design, but otherwise, have at it. It was a worthy challenge. I presented the drawing that is the source of this piece to convey the concept. One elevation. Shadows only. The bare bones. It used the three columns, french door, and one bay window already purchased, reversed. It frightened his new wife so much that I didn't hear from him for five years. That was 1989. Now, in 2020, it's on the cover of my brochure. He has a copy. My dad said it would scare people away. I said good - if they are scared, they aren't a good fit. It works.
This is the second iteration of this piece, with some adjustment in the design and in the order of the panels, with a reddish stained frame. The original, with a clear frame, is in the collection of Ken Mahru.Shipping Info
